You can use a platform bed in place of a foundation as long as it has a solid surface and sturdy center support capable of properly supporting the mattress. We understand that some platform beds are designed with slats, which can also be acceptable provided they are structurally sound. As a requirement, slats should be at least 3" wide and spaced no more than 4" apart.
