The smell you are referring to is known as off-gassing, and is a completely normal and safe outcome of the manufacturing process. While unpleasant, this smell usually dissipates over time.
We recommend allowing the pillow to air out for several days before use. In addition, you may try the sleeping bag method, which involves rolling the pillow up tightly, similar to a sleeping bag. This can help push out any off‑gassing odor.
